Laboratory „Dorin PAVEL” - Hydropower Equipment
The Laboratory „Dorin PAVEL” - Hydropower Equipment hosts teaching and research activities within hydraulic machinery and systems, which are used in fluid engineering field.
The experimental and numerical application classes are dedicated to the study programs of the Energy Engineering Faculty: the BSc program Hydropower Engineering (Turbomachinery hydrodynamics; Pumps and fans), and the MSc program Hydro-informatics and Water Engineering (Turbines for renewable energy resources; Hydraulic machinery testing; Transients numerical modelling).
The infrastructure of the Laboratory „Dorin PAVEL” - Hydropower Equipment consists of: models of hydraulic machinery (impeller pumps and hydraulic turbines), conventionally manufactured from steel, bronze etc, and innovative manufactured using 3D printing technologies; experimental test rigs equipped with small hydro turbines (Turgo turbine; Achard kinetic turbines); experimental test rig for transient flows (single phase or two-phase flow), as water hammer; laptops; video projector system; smart board.
