CENTER FOR RESEARCH IN ENERGY ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION

CCEPM is a professional organization created within the “POLITEHNICA” University of Bucharest to contribute to the progress of science, techniques and technology in Romania in the field of energy and environmental protection.

The center carries out activities in the following fields:

  • monitoring and management of energy processes and environmental protection;
  • the design, construction and promotion of high-performance installations in the field of environmental protection;
  • design, construction and implementation of high-performance installations in the fields of hydraulic and pneumatic drives, measuring and control equipment, electrical equipment;
  • computer aided modeling, simulation and design of thermohydraulic processes;
  • reliability, stability and security of power systems;
  • development of advanced synthesis methods of the energy processes based on artificial intelligence systems;
  • development of simulators for classical and renewable energy systems;
  • training of specialists in the field of applied scientific research;
  • determining the energy efficiency of energy equipment and systems.

The fields of activity can be oriented in accordance with the existing scientific potential and with the demand of the potential beneficiaries.

NATIONAL INTERUNIVERSITY CENTER FOR HIGH VOLTAGE ENGINEERING AND ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY

The National Interuniversity Center for High Voltage Engineering and Electromagnetic Compatibility is: a research base with multiple users created through the joint action of four research centers, from the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, University POLITEHNICA of Timișoara, and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca in order to provide experimental facilities for scientific research and training of specialists in the field of Electromagnetic Compatibility and High Voltage Engineering.

The objectives of the TICEM research center are:

  • the development of scientific, fundamental and applied research;
  • increased integration of scientific research in Romania, in the international scientific circuit;
  • training of highly qualified human resources for higher education / scientific research / technological development;
  • providing scientific and technical support to small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of electromagnetic compatibility and high voltage engineering.

Center for Advanced Research for Innovative Materials, Products and Processes

The CAMPUS research center is both a research center of university and post-university excellence (undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doctoral studies), of permanent education and distance learning in fields such as electronics, telecommunications, automation, information technology, electrical, chemical, energy or mechanical engineering.

Within CAMPUS, the Faculty of Energy Engineering has 8 research-development and innovation laboratories:

Research infrastructure in ENergy-Environment-Water-Systems

IIC RENEWS is a distributed infrastructure, with geographical / thematic location in:

  • University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest - IIC RENEWS coordinator

  • INCD ICPE CA Bucharest - partner

  • INCDE ICEMENERG Bucharest - partner

  • INCD ICSI Râmnicu Vâlcea - partner

RENEWS is a national research center of excellence in the field of energy, environment, and water, included since 2017 in the national roadmap, in which research facilities grouped by laboratories have a certain degree of flexibility in terms of data processing, storage, and supply services, which allows a positive evolution in addressing specific issues, assessing the sustainability of critical energy infrastructures, assessing and monitoring the quality of environmental factors, the mechanism of climate change and the modeling and forecasting of greenhouse gas emissions.

Research activities go beyond sectoral treatment and address issues related to the entire energy path, in correlation with the availability of resources and the evolution of smart systems, along with issues related to water use in the context of changing environmental systems and climate change.

RENEWS is a unique facility in the Romanian context because at national level there are no more functional, modernized research structures that have a connected energy-environment-water approach. This complex infrastructure responds to developments in the fields of energy, environment, and water, at national and international level. It complements the field of smart specialization: "Energy, Environment and Climate Change" with the 3 subdomains: Energy; Environment and climate change; Intelligent systems for energy and the environment.

RENEWS also allows other research entities to have access to a series of superior equipment in terms of performance, but also to a knowledge support that will be the basis for collaboration for other collaborative projects.

The development of the RENEWS research infrastructure creates the conditions for UPB and its partners (INCD ICPE CA, INCD ICSI Vâlcea and ICEMENERG) to be able to address in research top topics in the field of energy - environment-water that are aligned with international trends.
