Biography

Constantin BULAC was born in 1957, in Curtea de Argeş City. He graduated Faculty of Power Engineering in 1982, in electrical power engineering, and was awarded the doctorate degree in 1998 by University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest with a dissertation on “Voltage stability in mixed AC-DC systems“.

Between 1994-1995 he has performed a doctoral research stage, related to voltage stability, at Faculté Polytechnique de Mons – Belgium, and during 1999-2000 he worked as a researcher and visiting professor at Université de Liège – Belgium on transient stability of power systems. Currently he is professor within the Power Engineering Faculty – UPB, Head of the Power Systems and Applied Informatics Group from the Department of Electrical Power Systems, and teaches Power Systems, Power system dynamics, Modelling and simulation of dynamic processes in power systems, Artificial intelligence techniques, Fuzzy control and evolutive computation, and Applications of artificial intelligence techniques to license and master students from Power Engineering Faculty.

Prof. Bulac was the Director of the Department of Electrical Power Systems (2008 – 2012, 2016 – 2020), Dean of Power Engineering Faculty (2012 – 2016), while since November 2020 he is the Director of the Doctoral School in Power Engineering.

His research activities include power systems monitoring and control, power electronics and artificial intelligence techniques applications in power systems. Prof. Bulac is member of IEEE, CIGRE, and other national professional associations.
